Thomas Blake, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Director & Founder

Licensed in CA, NJ, ID, WY and MD

Thomas Blake (he/him) is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Thomas Blake Therapy, a trauma-informed private practice based in Los Angeles, CA. He holds active licenses in California, New Jersey, Maryland, Wyoming, and Idaho, and works with adolescents and adults of all ages.

Thomas practices through a Humanistic-Existential lens, integrating evidence-based modalities including certifications in IFS (Internal Family Systems), EMDR, somatic integration, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

In addition to his clinical work, Thomas has contributed to cutting-edge research in psychedelic-assisted therapy — with experience using psilocybin, 5-MeO-DMT, MDMA, and methylone in clinical research settings for the treatment of PTSD. He also serves on the Advisory Board of SĀFTY.org, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to affirming mental health care for transgender youth and their families.

Thomas received his clinical training at The LGBTQ Center in Orange County, California, where he not only completed his supervised hours but took on a leadership role within the organization, most notably launching the Trans Ally Support Group, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to support the family members and friends of transgender individuals in becoming more informed, compassionate allies.

From there, Thomas brought that same commitment to scale at The Trevor Project, where he was brought on to build and launch their digital crisis services platform, a text and chat-based extension of their flagship phone lifeline. In that role, he trained and managed scalable teams of crisis counselors, guiding them through high-stakes interventions with some of the most vulnerable young people in North America. His contributions to the organization extended beyond operations, authoring foundational resources including The Coming Out Handbook and partnering with companies across industries to build safer, more inclusive workplaces for LGBTQ+ employees.

His clinical focus centers on trauma survivors navigating complex PTSD, with a deep specialization in LGBTQ+ affirming care, creating a space where clients, their families, and allies feel genuinely seen throughout the therapeutic process.
