The most breathtaking stretch of Highway 1 — Bixby Bridge, cliffs plunging into the Pacific, and redwoods just inland. Now fully reopened, it's the classic California drive. (Pull over only at marked vista points.)

A laid-back beach town with one of the safest, calmest swimming beaches on the coast, tide pools, and a bluffs trail past a harbor-seal rookery. Small, unhurried, and easy to love.

A tranquil valley town known for its spiritual retreats, spas, olive-oil and wine tasting, and a walkable arcade of shops. Stay for the famous "Pink Moment," when sunset sets the Topa Topa mountains glowing — one of the most peaceful corners of California.

A longtime artists' colony wrapped around some of the prettiest coves in Southern California. Tide pools, hidden beaches, and a walkable village of galleries make it a perfect slow day by the water.
